Summer Splash Strengthens Community Ties

Summer Splash on Sunday, July 19, was our thirteenth community event; it marked the beginning of our fourth year of sponsoring events that bring people of all ages together for a fun and relaxing time while becoming better acquainted. A core group of faithful volunteers organize these activities and help them run smoothly.

A taco bar and snow cones were back by popular demand. Water activities for children included a splash pad, water shooters, and bubble pools. The fish pond allowed every child to snag a package of goodies. The new Granny Pants game was popular with kids and adults. A police officer brought her car and allowed youngsters to climb in, try on some gear, and talk over the speaker. (A 90-year-old woman was excited to get in the car herself because she had never been in a police car.) Calvin Church members attended the event along with members of City Chapel, neighbors, children of various ages, and residents of Clark Home.

One benefit of these events is the opportunity to develop relationships with our neighbors and hear their appreciation. We are gathering a faithful following.

The next event on the schedule is the popular pancake breakfast and pumpkin decorating in late October.
